Turmeric plant has a history of medicinal use over 4000 years. It was used as a culinary spice and had some religious significance in Asian countries, especially in India. It has a brilliant yellow color and hence turmeric is also known as “Indian saffron.”  It is widely used as a spice Turmeric has numerous uses in Asian cuisine.
